Write a Good Product Review

Let me share with you my experience of how I am now able to write a good product review. This was not always the case.  

Sure originally I thought I was alone in being unable to write product reviews. I didn’t think others had the same mental block of writing product reviews that once weighed me down.

Then I turned for help to my amazing community.

However I later found out like many other writers, it took me awhile to get to the stage where I could comfortably tackle product reviews. 

It was only last year that I wrote my first product review on my new website. Certainly I was thinking about writing product reviews for over 9 months prior to writing my first review, but I somehow could not pull the trigger.

Honestly, let me first explain. Let me give you some of the reasons why it had taken me so long to write a good product review.

I’d Been Dreading to Do Product Reviews

I’d absolutely been dreading to do product reviews for a long time. To me it felt like a slog, hours and hours of research, test driving the product or service yourself (read below), and then writing a very thorough product review.

However, in light of everything it was only recently that I decided to “put my head down” and do the work. Other affiliate marketers inspired me, those who once stated they dreaded and hated writing product reviews, but somehow still managed to produce 500+reviews.

To me this was absolutely mind-boggling.

Despite disliking the amount of work and research involved in product reviews, another “impediment” that held me back for a long-time was that I insisted on only writing authentic product reviews.

Notice I stress the word authentic.

However, I no longer see this as an impediment

I am still truly a firm believer of using the product or service first-hand before writing a product review, or at least requiring absolute verification of the authenticity and of a product or service before writing it (reviews from Amazon Verified Purchase or equivalent).

The latter of which the jury is still out as I am still deliberating deciding whether this less stringent standard is enough.

Knowing me, I am proud to have stuck to the former.

I Wrote Only Authentic Product Reviews

The reviews I began to write about were for products I always used in some form or the other. I know there are many, many other online products and services I had used that I can write helpful and sought after reviews for.

Believe me, I know that doing product reviews the “authentic way” (my way) is not highly recommended in the blogging industry by the so-called “experts” as many believe this is a practice that is cost prohibitive.

Speaking to those naysayers and so-called “experts”, I hear you loud and clear on that.

I wrote a past article about how strongly I felt about this, and not much has changed.

However, regardless I decided to best “stick to” my authenticity approach. My intent was to stick to my guns, and since that day I always have successfully stuck to them.

I have found that there are countless products out there that allow you a 14-day Free Trial, or even send you a sample of a physical product at no cost.

So I knew that not writing authentic product reviews would not be due to a loss for material, therefore there was always a way that I would not have to compromise and “stick to my guns”.

Write a Good Product Review: Planning My Schedule

My intention was to stay on an ambitious, consistent, yet relatively flexible and realistic product review writing schedule for my new MMO website.

Actually I already had a posting schedule planned in my mind. I just needed at least 24 hours to “get my head wrapped around it” and write it all down on paper. (I am old school!)

To hold myself accountable, I told my wonderful internet community that I would post my writing schedule the following day on my regular “My Golden Rules” post.

This was a regular bi-weekly post that I frequently would write on my internet community platform.

Next I made a vow to myself that I would create a realistic posting schedule that I could maintain consistently over the next year.

And I made a self-promise that I would share this product review posting schedule with my internet community of 1.5 million worldwide members, so they could all be my accountability partners.

Knowing how disciplined I can be when I decide to get something done, once I made up my mind and I fully COMMITTED to DO something, I already knew I would get it done. Period.

It’s always been this way. That’s why I knew I could do this!

In addition, there were also some great platforms and resources I knew of that would help me to “fill in the gaps” by creating additional content other than strictly writing product reviews on my website that I could be leveraging over the next year.

By helping many people in my niche to succeed, this instilled a new confidence within me, thus empowering me to ramp up traffic and sales exponentially.

Ladies and Gents, I’d hate to say it, be inspired and inspire others, that’s all wonderful and good.

That’s only once you know what you are doing. Which means seeking out and doing all of the available training that is online the RIGHT way. Then supplementing your knowledge with many other sources.
