You will be working on your smartphone almost all of the time; this is the device you will be using almost exclusively to post and repost on Instagram. The only time I use my computer is for preparing images in Canva, once they are ready in Canva from there I only use my smartphone.

Here are the first things you will need to do before we start this training:

  • If you have never used Instagram before, go on your smartphone and go to The App Store (iPhone users) or to Google Play Store (Android users) and search and upload the free Instagram app to your smartphone.List Element
  • Make sure you have the FREE version of Canva on your computer. Just Google Canva.
  • Go back to your smartphone, and do the same as Step 1 and upload the Canva app.
  • You will need to upload an app for reposting content. There are several apps that you can use for this, ANY of which you can use, but I simply use the app called Repost.

This Part 2 training series titled “How Do I Repost on Instagram” is divided into the following 6 Lessons:

  • Introduction: What is Reposting on Instagram?
  • Lesson 1: Searching for Images to Repost (Images 1-8)

How Do I Repost On Instagram is the essence of this training

Introduction: How Do I Repost On Instagram?

I make it a habit to post my own image(s) or repost at least one image with a personal caption on Instagram every day. This is a GREAT way to build a following and attract a multitude of Likes and New Followers to gain influence.

Reposting allows you to take other people’s images provided that you give them attribution, and to re-share their content on Instagram. It is where you capture images by other Instagram users from the Instagram feed or another Instagram user’s account, modify it, add your own caption to it, save it as a draft in Instagram for a later time or another day to post, or share the post immediately.

With hundreds of millions of images to repost and over 800 million + users on Instagram (only 2nd to Facebook for social media), you will never run out of material to post! If you are like me and post on Instagram, you will want to repost some of your favorite relevant images as part of your daily activity on Instagram.

By relevant, I mean images that relate to your niche i.e., as an interior designer I love posting great images by other interior designers, architecture, inspiring quotes, and some of my favorite artwork I find either while I am walking around the city, or reposting something I find scrolling through the Instagram feed.

I also love to post FUN images relevant to hashtags on a trending day i.e., #ThrowbackThursday, #MotivationMonday, #TuesdayThoughts, etc.

Searching for Images to Repost using How Do I Repost On Instagram

Lesson 1: Searching for Images to Repost

*Note: This training assumes you will be able to setup and create your Instagram and Canva profiles and usernames and passwords.

This lesson instructs you how to effectively search for images on the Instagram feed and by “grabbing” images through search off Instagram individual user accounts for reposting on your own Instagram account.

Searching for Images to Repost

1. On your smartphone, select the “Instagram” icon.

2. Once in Instagram, select the “House” icon on the bottom far LEFT of the page to open your Instagram feed. Your Instagram feed represents all the images YOUR FOLLOWERS have recently posted, the most recent appearing at the top of the feed.

Here you can scroll through all the various images and choose an image for reposting.

3. Alternatively, if you already have an image in mind from one of your favorite Instagram accounts, you can select the “Search” icon on the bottom, second from the far left.

4. Next, you type in a portion of the account name in the Search Barat the Top to select the account you are looking for, and once in the account select the specific image within that account you want to repost on Instagram. This is the method example we will use for this training.

As you can see, I have selected my favorite Instagram pooch Doug the Pug using his Instagram handle “ItsDougthePug”.

Now I select by tapping on ItsDougthePug in the scroll down menu below “Top” and it will take me to Doug the Pug’s Instagram account.

5. You know you are in Doug the Pug’s account when you see “Posts”, “Followers”, and “Following” on top of the phone screen. As you can see Doug is a very popular chap currently with 3.4 Million followers and counting!!

Now go to the “Gallery” at the bottom, and select the photo you want to Repost. This will bring up the photo you’ve selected in the original post.

6. Select the 3 "horizontal dots" on the Top Right of the screen.

7. The screen will turn dark grey and in the center a dialog box will appear. Select “Copy Link.”

8. The next screen will show you The post’s shareable link has been copied to the clipboardwith the post’s main photo reappearing in the background.

You are now ready to prepare the Repost.

When you are ready, go to Lesson 2.

This lesson instructs you how to prepare an image for Reposting through a 3rd special party app that specifically is tailored for reposting Instagram images.

You can download and use ANY of the repost apps, but for this lesson I will use an app called “Repost.”

9. On your smartphone, select the “Repost” icon.

10. Alternately, an easier way to access your Repost app is from the previous screen in Step 8 (Lesson 1), where you can select the Repost Icon on the Top Right of the screen to bring you inside the “Repost” app.

Please note however, that the Repost icon on the top right of the screen will only appear for a few seconds, then will disappear. Once this happens, you will have to go back to your smartphone, and select the “Repost” icon as in Step 9.

11. Select the Repost in the scroll down menu. In this casewe selected “itsdougthepug.”

12. In the next screen, customize the placement and the color of the Name Tag.

We have chosen the Name Tag to appear at the Top Right and the Dark background.

13. Once satisfied with the Name Tag placement, color, and the photo, select REPOST.

14. The “Copied Caption” dialog box will appear on the next screen. With this box, you are still in “Repost”. Select “Open Instagram” and this will take you back to Instagram.

You are now back in Instagram and ready to adjust the filter of your image, write your caption, create your tags, and select all relevant hashtags,

When writing your caption for your Repost, MAKE SURE YOU GIVE ORIGINAL ACCOUNT NAME who crested the original image i.e., ItsDougthe Pug, PROPER ATTRIBUTION by indicating in the caption “Photo courtesy of @Instagram account name”.
