Cyberduck vs Filezilla Review

Cyberduck vs Filezilla Review

What do you think of Cyberduck vs Filezilla?

For my own FTP needs, I've been very apprehensive to use Filezilla as my FTP client. Yes I do know that Filezilla is the most popular FTP client and has the easiest to navigate user interface.

However I've read a wide variety of reviews from various sources how precarious using Filezilla can be whenever you download it. This has been due to alleged shady Admin responses, and unethical practices of bundling adware and malware on your computer automatically upon download.

Many long-time web developers who have used Filezilla for many years have recently jumped ship due to consistent bad experiences, and shady Admin responses.

So I decided to test both myself and see where the relevancy of their comments would or would not avail itself.

When it comes to Cyberduck vs Filezilla I simply wanted to know the truth.

Cyber corrected the issue, or it would have been a target

Note: The most essential feature of any FTP client is the ability to queue your downloads

The Cybeduck queuing feature was originally added in to v2.8 way back in 2007. Unfortunately in May 2017, in v6.0 they broke this essential feature when they tried to add other less important, features. This loss of functionality was clearly not intentional because the corresponding options, which allow you to select the number of simultaneous transfers, were still there - they just no longer could do anything. Even by choosing one transfer, every single download placed in the queue would begin immediately and without waiting for the previous ones to complete.

Thankfully, this massive bug was corrected in the v7 version. Therefore this is no longer a Con for Cyberduck.

Filezilla Pros and Cons

By installing junk and potentially harmful adware by default on your computer, this is a major negative for Filezilla.

Cyberduck vs Filezilla, I'm quacking like a duck!

Cyberduck for FTP

So now I'm quacking like a duck, as I made a wise decision to use Cyberduck as my FTP client.

Cyberduck is also currently rated higher than Filezilla in several categories, including their UX and UI as well as overall user experience.

Cyberduck is a fairly popular file transfer client for Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows. It supports SFTP, FTP, FTPS, WebDAV, Amazon S3, and OpenStack Swift protocols.

For security alerts. Cyberduck can use public keys for authentication. Many organizations have been found to have massive numbers of unmanaged SSH keys. They pose a major security and compliance risk.

Opening SSH tunnels from the external Internet into organizations has also become a common way to circumvent security policies and open backdoors.

However, above all of this, my biggest reason for recommending and choosing Cyberduck as my FTP client is that now that the Cyberduck tech team has fixed the major queuing issues in v7,the program is now easy, hassle-free, and complete.

Furthermore, unlike Filezilla  which will install junk and potentially harmful adware on your computer upon download, Cyberduck is junk free: it will not harm your computer.

Cyberduck vs Filezilla, the Wonderful Community Comments

Cyberduck vs Filezilla: Comments from My Wonderful Community

Here were some of the helpful comments from my wonderful worldwide online community of 1.5 million members when I posed the question of what would you choose, Cyberduck vs Filezilla:

I used to FTP quite often back in the day. Now, I haven't really found any reason to go into the control panel of my sites since hosting them here at WA using WordPress. My other sites are on Weebly and they have a proprietary web builder there as well. Nevertheless, I just look in my Applications folder and sure enough, I still have a Cyberduck sitting there.
